Day 1: Transfer from the airport to Dogubayazit

Transfer from Igdir or Agri airport to Dogubayazit. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner with a guide at a local restaurant. Overnight stay at a hotel in Dogubayazit.

Day 2: From Dogubayazit to Ararat Camp 1

After breakfast at the hotel, we pack our equipment into the minibus and set off to the foot of Mount Ararat. We will stop near the village of Cevirme, located at an altitude of 2,200 m above sea level. from where we will start climbing to camp 1, located at an altitude of 3,200 m above sea level. Our luggage and food will be packed on horses by our porters and transported to camp 1. After 4-5 hours we should reach the campsite, where hot drinks and a little refreshment are waiting for us. Later we will pitch our tents and rest. In the evening, around 6:00 p.m. our chef will serve dinner. After lunch, free time. Overnight stay in tents at the campsite.

Day 3: Acclimatization day

We will have breakfast around 8:00 in the morning. Later we will take our lunch packs and small backpacks and start an acclimatization walk to an altitude of 4,200 meters. After a short break, we will start descending to camp 1. This day will help our bodies adapt to high altitudes. It is also possible to use an alternative route (much greener and less crowded) where we do an acclimatization walk up to 3,900 m above sea level. In camp 1, our cook will prepare hot tea, coffee and snacks for us. Time to relax. In the evening, dinner served by the chef. Overnight stay in tents at the campsite.

Day 4: Approach to Ararat 2 camp

We will eat breakfast and pack our luggage, which the horses will take to the higher campsite. Then we will start climbing to the Ararat 2 camp (4200 m above sea level), which we should reach after 4-5 hours of walking. There we will pitch our tents and eat lunch prepared by our cook. We have the afternoon free, so we can relax, take a few photos and enjoy the fantastic view. In the evening, dinner. Overnight stay in tents at the campsite.

Day 5: Ascent to Mount Ararat and return to Camp 1

We wake up very early (usually between 1-2 am), eat a meal and drink something hot. We take lunch packs and thermoses with hot tea prepared by our chef. We will check our equipment one last time (headlamps, grips, poles, etc.) and start climbing to the top of Ararat. After 5-7 hours we should reach the very top. At the top we have a short break to take photos and celebrate our success. We will then begin our descent to Camp 2 at an altitude of 4,200 meters. In the camp we will drink hot coffee or tea, eat something and rest for about 1-2 hours. Later, we will pack our equipment and start the descent to camp 1 at an altitude of 3,200 meters. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 6: Return to Dogubayazit + sightseeing

Breakfast at the campsite. Then we will pack all the equipment and start the descent to the point where the minibuses will be waiting for us. Return to Dogubayazit to our hotel. After rest and lunch, we will visit the Ishak Pasha Palace – one of the most important palaces in Ottoman history, built in the 17th century, located 7 km from Dogubayazit. Then we will visit Durupinar. It is a canoe-shaped area that some believe may be the “footprint” of Noah’s Ark. After sightseeing, you can visit the Turkish bath (hamam). Dinner. Overnight at Dogubayazit Hotel.

Day 7: Transfer to the airport

After breakfast at the hotel, we will go to the airport in Agri or Igdir. End of the trip.
